Saturday, February 23, was the District 31 Education Foundation’s annual Winter Benefit, held at Fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Glenview. The evening included casino games, a silent and live auction with over 100 items donated, from Football Hall of Fame VIP weekend package to dinner for eight at the Sugar Factory to Lollapalooza tickets, hosted dinner with legendary NFL coach Marv Levy and his wife, and a night at the Timber Ridge WaterPark resort. Music and food brought in from area restaurants helped round out the evening.
Over 200 parents and staff attended and helped raise between $22,000-$25,000, funds that will benefit both Winkelman Elementary and Field Middle Schools. One of the immediate purchases will be new outdoor playgrounds for both schools that will be installed this summer. The existing playgrounds will be dismantled and donated to places in need.
Darrin Stern, President of the Education Foundation, was pleased with the success of the Benefit, “It’s always great seeing so many from our District 31 community come out to support our schools. Our ongoing focus is to be able to give as much as we can to both Winkelman and Field and we honestly couldn’t continue without the support of so many. It takes a lot of hours and many helpful people donating their time and energy to put on this event. Everyone seemed to have a great time and all of us at the Ed Foundation want to thank everyone, including our venue sponsors, who came out and helped.” For more information about the District 31 Education Foundation you can visit
